Clindamycin Phosphate is a commonly used antibiotic belonging to the lincomycin class of drugs. It exerts its antibacterial effect mainly by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.

Product Details

I. Basic Information

Chemical Name: (2S - cis)-6-(1 - methyl - trans - 4 - propyl - L-2 - pyrrolidinecarboxamido)-1 - thiomethyl - 7 - chloro - 6,7,8 - trideoxy - L - threo -α-D - galactooctopyranoside phosphate

Molecular Formula: C₁₈H₃₃ClN₂O₈PS

Molecular Weight: 504.96 g/mol

CAS Number:24729-96-2

Properties: The hydrochloride or phosphate ester forms are commonly used. It is a white or off-white crystalline powder and is easily soluble in water.

II. Pharmacological Effects

Antibacterial Spectrum

It has a strong effect on Gram-positive bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus), especially effective against penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus.

It has good antibacterial activity against anaerobic bacteria (such as Bacteroides fragilis, Peptostreptococcus).

It has a relatively weak effect on Gram-negative bacteria (except Neisseria gonorrhoeae).

Mechanism of action

It binds to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, inhibits the activity of peptidyl transferase, prevents the elongation of the peptide chain, and thus inhibits the synthesis of bacterial proteins.

III. Clinical Applications

Indications

Infectious diseases:

Respiratory tract infections (such as pneumonia, lung abscess, especially when complicated with anaerobic infections).

Skin and soft tissue infections (such as boils, carbuncles, cellulitis).

Abdominal infections (often combined with aerobic antibacterial drugs for mixed infections).

Pelvic infections (such as pelvic inflammatory disease, when anaerobic bacteria need to be covered).

Osteomyelitis (can penetrate into bone tissue and is one of the first-choice drugs for Staphylococcus aureus osteomyelitis).

Dosage Forms and Administration Methods

Injections (such as Clindamycin Phosphate Injection):

For intravenous drip or intramuscular injection, the daily dosage for adults is 0.6 - 1.2 g. In severe infections, it can be increased to 1.8 - 2.4 g, administered in 2 - 4 divided doses.

For children, the dosage is calculated according to body weight, 15 - 25 mg/kg per day. In severe infections, it can be increased to 30 - 40 mg/kg, administered in divided doses.
