2. Antibacterial Properties

Mechanism of Action

It is the same as that of fosfomycin calcium. By inhibiting the key early enzyme (phosphoenolpyruvate transferase) in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, it leads to the death of bacteria and belongs to bactericides.

Antibacterial spectrum

covers Gram-positive bacteria (such as Staphylococcus, Streptococcus), Gram-negative bacteria (such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa), and some anaerobic bacteria.

It has certain activity against multidrug-resistant bacteria (such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus MRSA, ESBLs-producing Enterobacteriaceae bacteria), but combination therapy is required to avoid drug resistance.

3.Formulations and Administration Methods

Intravenous Drip (Common Injectable):

Adults: 4 - 12g per day, divided into 2 - 3 times (dissolved in 5% glucose or normal saline, and the infusion time is about 1 - 2 hours).

Children: 100 - 300mg/kg per day, divided into 2 - 3 times.

Contraindicated Populations: Those allergic to fosfomycin, patients with hypernatremia (should be cautious as sodium salts may increase the sodium load), pregnant and lactating women (only use when clearly necessary)
